Collaborative Networks: A Powerful Tool for Holistic Health Navigators

Holistic Health Navigators serve to help their clients best utilize holistic health practices for their well-being and one of the ways they do this is by connecting clients with a network of trusted, holistic practitioners. A key element of the navigator’s role involves fostering relationships and facilitating collaborative approaches to holistic health.

Establishing Collaborative Partnerships

Building a network starts with identifying and establishing strong relationships with holistic practitioners. This requires not only an understanding of a diverse range of holistic modalities, but the training that practitioners receive, what specialties they serve as well as logistical aspects about how they practice like geographical location and pricing structure.  Navigators work to constantly expand their network of trusted, reliable practitioners that share a commitment to holistic wellbeing.

Creating a Diverse Referral Network

Because the holistic health space is so diverse, holistic health navigators have a broad range of practices from which to refer. This can include practices like acupuncture, naturopathy, herbal medicine, functional medicine, aromatherapy, ayurveda, and homeopathy to name a few. But there are many more. The more diverse the network and resources, the better the navigator can adapt their recommendations to the preferences and goals of the client.

Overcoming Barriers to Care

There are real barriers that exist to accessing holistic health practices, which may include financial and geographical limitations. Clients may simply not be able to afford the practitioners that are local to them, or be limited in the selection of practitioners available in their area. Navigators work to provide solutions to these barriers through the networks and resources they build. This could include practitioners who have sliding-scale fees, provide telehealth support, offer free or low- cost self-care classes, or lower cost student training clinic, to name a few. Navigators can prove invaluable in helping their clients think “outside of the box” in how to access holistic services.

The Transformative Impact of Holistic Health Navigators

By working with a Holistic Health Navigator, clients gain important access to a rich and diverse network of holistic practitioners and resources that otherwise may be difficult to locate on one’s own. They are also provided guidance to overcome any barriers that exist in fully utilizing the resources available to them.  Clients can be sure their Holistic Health Navigator has their best interest in mind and works from a strong foundation built on knowledge, collaborations and resourcing.
